Homemade Crock Pot Apple Sauce

A few weeks ago we went apple picking and the girls had the best time picking and picking and picking and well, you get the point, we came home with A LOT of apples. We stuck to two varieties so we didn’t get confused- one that was perfect for baking and the other that was good for apple sauce, salads, and general snacking! I was a little intimidated by making my own apple sauce but I had 20+ apples that needed to be put to use ASAP!

So, I went searching + I found a super easy recipe that I was able to modify to suite our preferences! It was so EASY. Basically you set it + forget it!

Homemade Crock Pot Apple Sauce

  • Add 20-30 peeled, sliced, 1-inch cubes to the crock pot
  • Add 4 heaping teaspoons of brown sugar
  • Add a splash of Lemon Juice
  • Add 1 stick of cinnamon
  • Cover and turn to Low for 6 hours, stirring occasionally.

When the 6 hours is up, remove the cinnamon stick. If you like your applesauce to be chunky, use a whisk to break up the last of the apple chucks, add to jars and allow to cool before refrigerating.

If you like your applesauce smooth, use an immersion blender until you reach a desired consistency, add to jars and allow to cool before refrigerating.

EASY. AS. THAT!

I tasted it and immediately wanted to share it with everyone I knew! I ordered a case of wide mouth Mason Jars and I’m going to make another much larger batch right before Thanksgiving. It will make the CUTEST hostess gift and a little something sweet to drop off to our neighbors before the holiday!

I’m not sure what the shelf life will be but I have a funny feeling we won’t have any issues with it sitting around for too long. It is just SO good, sweet enough but not too sweet and just the right hint of cinnamon. If you make it let me know! I want to know what you think! Tag me over at @Emma.Prentiss, on IG!
