December Bucket List

Happy December 1st! It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas, as if we haven’t heard that 36thousand times already.

Joe and I spent the last few days organizing our schedules to be sure we can fit in all of the fun that comes along with December and the holiday season. We won’t be doing all of these but I wanted to include all of our ideas just in case you can fit it all in! Fa La La La LA!

  • Cookie Baking Extravaganza. We love to gift cookies to everyone. It’s such nice way to have gift on hand when visiting friends. We made sugar cookies a little early this year so we could do it while my Nanny was visiting but we’ll be at it again in a few weeks. I’m thinking Peanut Butter Kisses, Chocolate Chip, Sugar Cookies, and White Chocolate Cranberry Macadamia to name a few.
  • Driving around to see Christmas lights! I have been doing this with friends for years so I’m excited that Harper is finally at a good age to join us! Swing through Starbucks and grab a Hot Chocolate for the road- add a drop of Peppermint essential oil to make it extra festive!
  • Sunday movie nights. I don’t get the Sunday Scaries around here because I LOVE my job, but knowing Joe will have to go back to work on Monday is always a bummer. So saving a little something special to finish off the weekend is always night. We’ve got The Santa Clause, 2 + 3, The Polar Express, Home Alone and Lost in NY, and every single Christmas special that I can catch on TV and add to the DVR.
  • Six Flags Holiday in the Park. Great Adventure decorated for the holidays? SIGN US UP.
  • Brunch with Santa. A stress-free and enjoyable way to visit with Santa, grab a picture, and not spend a arm + a leg on terrible photos.
  • Speaking of photos. Take your family Christmas card photo ASAP- before the weather turns to shit.
  • Christmas Craft. The season of being inside a lot is upon us so crafts and activities are in serious demand over here. Pinterest it up! They make perfect cards or stocking stuffers for grandparents.
  • Turn down the lights a bit, blast some Holiday music and decorate the house together! Let the kids put decorations wherever they like and just go back and “adjust them” after they go to bed. LOL #meanmom. Adding a little holiday cheer to each room is easy if you don’t over-think it.
  • Make gift tags! This is a new one for us but I think it’s a great year for it. I’m going to let Harper decorate a few pieces of card stock and then put it in my Cricut. I’ll cut out the first letter of each person’s name (we have no repeats, thank goodness!). Personalized gift tags!
  • Mom + Dad shopping trip! We started this last year and LOVED it. We basically made a date night/afternoon out of it. Grabbed lunch and a few beers then made our way through a short list of stocking stuffers and last minute gifts. The few beers before helps your sanity!
  • Make garland! Construction paper, popcorn, yarn, cotton balls. You have it? We can make a garland out of it. I’m partial to the construction paper one because it serves as a count down to the big day!
