Merry Christmas Ya Filthy Animal

Christmas 2017 was one for the books. Easily the BEST Christmas I’ve ever had. Harper was absolutely smitten with her gifts, and there were MANY! She is truly a lucky girl to have so many generous family members.

Joe and I did not go wild with gifts, as per usual. We generally stick to the saying “something they want, something they need, something to wear and something to read.” So clothes, new rainboots, a book, and for pots and pans for her new “kitchen.” We LOVE stocking stuffers + filled her’s with snacks, some Matchbox Cars, a new toothbrush (are we the only ones who do this? haha), and lots of stickers because they are her favorite.

Harper’s grandparents were generous as usual and the stars of the day were a tricycle that she rode around the house most of the evening thanks to Daddy, a rocking Unicorn that she has ridden every day since and her Ikea Kitchen chock full of food and other “cooking” goodies. Not to mention all of the gifts from her Aunt and Uncle and countless family members and friends. What a lucky girl.

We spent the ENTIRE day at home which is my absolute favorite thing about Christmas Day. Pajamas, all day snacking, perfect fire going and christmas music playing. We hosted my Mom and Step-Dad for brunch, opened gifts SLOWLY (very, very slowly), and finished the day with family dinner before Harper went to bed. Joe and I enjoyed a few drinks to wind down the night and before we blinked it was all over.

Christmas is my favorite holiday and it always brings a tear to my eye when we have to pack up and take down all of the decorations. The only thing that keeps my spirits up is the idea of the New Year, clean slate mentality. Cleaning, purging and redecorating is my JAM. Happy 2018, friends. xx
