Girls Weekend!

Well, shit. I am so glad this weekend is over. Joe was in Las Vegas last week for a bowling tournament and was supposed to get home early Sunday morning. Some shenanigans caused his flight to be cancelled and I almost cried. But he made it home, safe and sound, after a 4 hour round trip drive out to JFK airport in Queens, NY.

NEVER AGAIN.

I digress, let me get back to the point of this post. Now don’t get me wrong. This kid is amazing and SO well behaved but DANG she’s still a toddler and got her sass from me so you can imagine how that’s difficult.

We really had a good weekend and managed to fit in a few fun things between naps (a MUST when you’re riding solo), tantrums (mine) + dance parties to shake the sass out.

On Wednesday morning we woke up stupid early and took Joe to the airport. Coming home Harper was wide eyed and bushy tailed so that was a BLAST. I brought her into bed with me when we got home, set her up with Netflix and we just cuddled, dozed, and laid around until she was asking for breakfast. Later in the day I had a meeting for work so she came to that and was a perfect angel, thank goodness of course. We hit up the Barnes + Noble train table as a treat and Mumma got a trip Starbucks for being oh-so-brave. She KNOCKED out Wednesday night and I didn’t hear a peep out of her from 7p-8a. Thank you, sweet baby Jesus.

Thursday brought another day of hot weather so we had a play date to get us out of the house, but nothing that took us too far or kept us out for too long because thats when the wheels fall off the bus. We kept it reigned in and visited a local friend who has a newborn. Sweetest baby Cici who totally pooped on me and I was not even the slightest bit offended.

By Friday I was ready to stay home. I blew up her pool and we had a fun morning in the sun with the sprinkler going, music on, and snacks on the patio. We were inside by noon because that’s when the heat got bonkers. Friday afternoon was a bit of a struggle but we managed to get out of the house for a trip to OldNavy, for no reason at all. We swung through and picked up Chinese food so I wouldn’t have to cook another meal and I capped off the night with a glass of wine. Sweet nectar.

Saturday was a bit of a shit show struggle. She was missing Joe something fierce, we both were. So explaining to her that Daddy was not coming home today was hard. FaceTime was a lifesaver throughout his whole trip but nothing like the real thing. Movies, snacks, puzzles, snacks, blocks, nap, snacks, babies, frozen fish sticks, scavenger hunt, snacks, another movie and two books got us through the day. She was in bed by 8pm- glass of wine in my hand at 8:02pm.

Ladies and gentlemen, we’re in the home stretch. (Or so I thought, I wrote this before I heard that his flight was cancelled. ::cue the tears::)

When Joe is away it always make me think of single mommas and daddies. I DO NOT KNOW how you do it. I, at least, had the option to FaceTime with Joe and vent, have him entertain her while I pee’d alone, and ask him for the 629th time when his flight landed. You the real MVP, ladies and gents.

No sweet photo for today. We are just so effing glad to have Joe back, that the last thing I want to do is document how wrecked I look. A hot shower with a cold beer is on deck.

Cheers, buds.

P.S. Joe had a great time in Las Vegas and lived his best life but was SO glad to make it home to his girls and we are SO glad to have him back!
