5 ways NOT to lose your mind this Thanksgiving!

We are a little more than a WEEK AWAY from Thanksgiving and I just don’t know how it’s possible! We have a low key dinner planned at home and I’m looking forward to spending the day in our comfy cozies + ditching the whole idea of a schedule. Cookies for breakfast? Fine by me.

I did want to be a little prepared though so it’s not a total shit show. So, we are tackling a few things this week/weekend. Here is my tiny to-do list if you want to join us!

2018
  1. Deep clean the oven/stove. Okay, not fun- I know. BUT once it’s done you don’t have to worry about causing a small fire in your oven (not that I have any experience here) and the night before you can just give it a quick wipe down if it got dirty this week.
  2. Buy anything you can in advance. We grabbed our frozen and non-perishables in our last two grocery orders so it wasn’t a major bill to be shocked by and now we have them on hand in advance. Don’t let the bare shelves ruin your day!
  3. Do a quick inventory of pots, pans + serving platters. Nothing worse than going to cook something and not having a pan for it. Stick post it notes on them the night before so you know what is going where.
  4. Prep anything you can before hand- cookie dough, pie crust, mashed potatoes, gravy, this bomb breakfast bake. All of these can be made ahead and frozen or refrigerated the night or so before.
  5. Clean out the fridge! OMG, I did this this morning + wowzas. I’m a little embarrassed what I pulled out of the depths of the vegetable chiller drawer. Eat up those random leftovers so you have enough Tupperware for seconds and thirds, ditch anything that past its best, and trash those random salsa jars that have a spoonful left.
  6. BONUS TIP! Don’t forget to buy a loaf of sour dough or sandwich bread for those beloved leftover sandwiches on Friday!!
2019- our FAVORITE make ahead French Toast Casserole!

Hopefully that makes your Thanksgiving prep and the big day go nice and smoothly. I recently read that “your dishes will still be there in the morning but your guests won’t” so don’t get caught up in keeping the house pristine the entire time. Make sure everyone has a drink in their hand, knows where to find a refill and then ENJOY the day!
