4th of July Recap!

We had the best 4th of July this year. It felt like the most low key day but we still ticked all the summer staples. Swimming, BBQ, good friends + fireworks.

Harper is at the best age right now (do I say that at every age? Maybe) but she is just so much fun. We started the day slow rolling out of bed. Music, breakfast + jammies until at least 10am. I ran a few errands while Harper napped + Joe did a little yard work. Harper took a solid nap so we knew she would be in the best mood for the afternoons festivities. We headed out around 2pm, made a pit stop at Target so we could grab her a pair of swimmies, + rolled into a BBQ with friends early afternoon!

Last year she had a little pool float but we felt like this was a good time to go all in. I was nervous at first because she was having a hard time keeping her legs under her but in typical kid fashion, she figured it out in no time. She was even kicking her legs! She totally caught onto the fact that it helped her move.

She spent no less than 4 hours in the pool + we had to bribe her with cupcakes to get out. It worked + when she was done with the cupcake she promptly asked to go back in the pool. We completely forgot to take a family photo, so we may attempt to fit it in this weekend. IF we remember, which is unlikely.

We left that BBQ around 8 + headed home, good moods still intact. Praise the universe. We caught the stray firework on the ride + made it home just in time to see our neighbors fire work display in the street (that brought back SO many memories of my childhood). Harper didn’t hit the hay until 9:40! I thought for sure she’d sleep until noon the next day but alas, no such luck. A disrupted sleep schedule always results in terrible sleep so she was up multiple times that night. She made up for it during nap time the next day though so it all works out.

We’re back to a normal schedule after 2 pretty lazy days at home. This weekend is promising some gorgeous weather so we’re planning to check off at least 1 of our summer bucket list items! We have World Cup Soccer, brunch + mimosas, a day date for Mum + Dad and s’mores around the fire pit in mind. I hope you’ve all had the best holiday week! Thanks for reading!

Happy July, sweet friends!
