Halloween 2022!

As with all holidays these days I feel like I blinked and it’s over! We had the absolute best Halloween watching the school costume parade, giddy excitement over getting their costumes on + practicing our “twick or tweet” chants. We headed out the door about 4:30ish, grabbed some photos of the girls together + got to treating! We paused about an hour or so into it to eat some pizza and refill our adult drinks and off we went for round two!

We met up with some friends who live close by and really just had such a fun night. Hitting just about every singe house in our neighborhood. The rain started about 8pm so it put the immediate kabash on fire pit + s’mores but it was probably a blessing in disguise because everyone was tired and there were meltdowns on the horizon.

By 9pm the sugar plums were nestled all snug in their beds as I lay on the couch eating their Reese’s and dreaming of taking down all the halloween decorations in favor of tinsel and twinkle lights. Ha. Just kidding. Oddly enough, I am not in a rush to get the Christmas decor out just yet (I don’t care when you choose to decorate- its your house, you make the rules). However, we did start off November 1st with Christmas Music on the Alexa and the girls dreaming about what they’ll ask Santa for- while I stood by listening intently for any ideas.

Here are some photos from our day and the girls’ Milky Way Galaxy, Andromeda Galaxy + Astronaut costumes. I chose to take on most of the costume making myself again this year 1) because I do enjoy it 2) because I was appalled at the prices of halloween costumes once again and 3) because I just didn’t see anything at the second hand store costume section that coordinated well enough.

The beauty of this years look is that those cute dresses are keepers, Harper has been asking for those shoes for months, and the black long sleeve shirts we already had. I think my total out of pocket for the whole thing was $40 and we have LOTS of tulle left over for gift wrapping, I have an idea for the rest of the glow-in-the-dark stars that I can not wait to show you, and I’m going to burn those foam stars because they were a total pain in the ass and there is still glitter in my bed from multiple nights of staying up late sewing them onto the dresses.

Someone hand me a sequin Christmas sweater + turn up Mariah, IT’S OFFICIALLY THE HOLIDAY SEASON!! MERRY FREAKING EVERYTHING!!
