Our Memorial Day Weekend Recap!

We’re so grateful for those who have served and those who continue to serve to protect our freedoms.

There is nothing I love more than checking things off of a punch list! We made some major progress this weekend on “phase one” of our project list. There are fewer piles of tools and paint cans sitting around which is always a good sign!

The kitchen shelves went up after a little trial + error. We put them up Friday night and I liked them! But once I lived with them for a few hours and thought about it- they were too high. So they came down and I patched and repainted the wall. FAIL. But we got them back up and they’re SO much better! We ended up flipping the bracket over- once they’re decorated they’ll be like faux floating shelves. Less for the purpose of creating “floating shelves” and more because we didn’t really have a choice because we were not about to drill into tile.

And just for shits and giggles- here is the before photo!

Ship lap is done! I was like a kid putting each piece up and getting excited for the transformation. I LOVE it and I’m so glad we went for it. The shelves for the coffee bar also got sanded, stain and installed!

BRB while I go Pinterest search “how to style open shelves.” LOL

The fireplace paint is done, too! I’m obsessed and I can’t wait to decorate it! Next up for the fireplace is sanding the mantle. I really don’t like the stain color and I’m hoping some sanding can tone that down a little. Here is a before shot…

It just felt so dark. with 9 foot ceilings this much dark stone was too rustic for my taste.

And a pretty dramatic after shot…

SO much brighter!

We hung some things on the walls and it’s really starting to feel like it’s all coming together now. We’ll have to take some of it down on Thursday because painters are cominggggg Friday morning! I am PUMPED to have the foyer and our bathroom painted. It was a project we knew we just couldn’t tackle- so we’re happy to sub it out and let the pros step in. I’ll have to remember to take before photos although this yellow paint is not something I want to remember. YIKES.

It was a busy weekend but somehow we still found time to cuddle babies, eat hamburgers and enjoy a few beers. All in all, it was a great weekend and I’m looking forward to a short week! We don’t have much on the agenda, shocker, but I’m sure we’ll find some things to do.

Next up!
